WHY YOU SHOULD EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

1. It helps to reduce the occurrence of acne and blackhead breakouts. As this dead cell debris builds, the skin produces excess follicle oils which lead to blackheads and blemishes. When you exfoliate, it takes out the trash and reduces the likelihood of clogged pores and acne.

2. It Improve your skin, speeds up the skin renewal process and allowing new healthy cells to take their place. This process turns your complexion from dull and dry to bright, vibrant, and smooth. In addition, regular exfoliation reduces fine lines and wrinkles and keeps your skin softer.

3. Exfoliating also removes the dirt stuck deep inside your pores. Washing your skin alone will not accomplish this. By “decongesting” your pores through exfoliation, they will diminish in size and allow your skin a healthy polished glow.

4. Exfoliating allows your skin to be properly moisturized and stay healthy! This is also true for makeup and sunscreen. Regular exfoliating of your face will help your makeup go on smoother and more even.

WHY YOU SHOULD EAT YAM

Yams? Here are things you should know about this tuber. Yam is a good source of energy; 100 g provides 118 calories. Its crunchy edible part chiefly composed of complex carbohydrates and soluble dietary fiber.

Dietary fiber helps reduce constipation, decrease bad (LDL) cholesterol levels by binding to it in the intestines and lower colon cancer risk by preventing toxic compounds in the food from adhering to the colon mucosa. Additionally, being a good source of complex carbohydrates, it regulates steady rise in blood sugar levels, and, for the same reason, recommended as low glycemic index healthy food.

The tuber is an excellent source of B-complex group of vitamins. It provides adequate daily requirements of pyridoxine (vitamin B6), thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin, folic acid, pantothenic acid and niacin. These vitamins mediate various metabolic functions in the body.

Fresh root also contains good amounts of anti-oxidant vitamin; vitamin-C. Provides about 29% of recommended levels per 100 g. Vitamin C has some important roles in anti-aging, immune function, wound healing, and bone growth.

Yam contains small amounts of vitamin-A, and beta-carotene levels. Carotenes convert to vitamin A in the body. Both these compounds are strong antioxidants. Vitamin A has many functions like maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin, night vision, growth and protection from lung and oral cavity cancers.

Further, the tuber is indeed one of the good sources of minerals such as copper, calcium, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus. 100 g provides about 816 mg of Potassium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids, which helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure by countering hypertensive effects of sodium. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Iron is required for red blood cell formation.

HOME REMEDIES APPROVED BY DOCTORS

HEADACHE: Try do-it-yourself acupressure. Feel along your trapezius, the large muscle that runs from the high point of both shoulders and joins your neck. Use your thumbs, index, and middle fingers to squeeze the muscle just below where it attaches to both sides of your neck. You'll be releasing "trigger points," tiny muscle spasms that can cause neck tension and are a common cause of headaches. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute—or have a friend do it for you. Or try: massaging one or two drops of peppermint (Mentha piperita) oil into the same trigger points and the lower neck. Peppermint oil relaxes muscles in spasm says Benjamin Kligler, MD, MPH

FOR BAD BREATH: Drink up to ¼ cup pure aloe vera gel dissolved in about half a cup of water or apple juice. Aloe vera contains an anti-inflammatory compound called B-sitosterol that soothes acid indigestion, a common cause of bad breath. But go easy; in large doses, aloe vera can work like a laxative says New York-based herbalist Letha Hadady, DAc, author of Healthy Beauty

FOR WHITE TEETH: Combine ½ teaspoon baking soda with 1 or 2 drops of peroxide. Brush on, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse (don't swallow). Baking soda serves as a safe, light bleach. A baking soda and salt mixture can also restore the shine of dingy teeth (dip a wet toothbrush into ¼ teaspoon soda and sprinkle with up to ⅛ teaspoon salt) as effectively as it polishes your pots and pans. However, the peroxide recipe is safer for people on no-salt diets.

MOSQUITO BITE: Rub liquid laundry detergent on the spot and let dry. The liquid soothes the skin, dries the bite to reduce irritation, and seals the area from outside irritants says Paul Lyons, MD, associate professor of family and community medicine at Temple University School of Medicine

DANDRUFF: Douse it with a cup of antioxidant-packed green tea, which will naturally exfoliate dry flakes without dehydrating skin. Steep two bags of green tea in 1 cup hot water for 20 minutes to overnight. Once it has cooled, massage the strong tea into your scalp says Letha Hadady, DAc

SUNBURN: Take a lukewarm bath with 1 cup added ground oatmeal (grind it with a mortar and pestle; instant oatmeal works fine), 1 cup whole milk, 2 tablespoons honey, and 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel. Oatmeal is anti-inflammatory, honey is antiseptic, milk's proteins and fats soothe skin, and aloe numbs pain. Afterward, moisturize with a cream containing hydrating shea butter and aloe says Doris Day, MD.

MORE HEALTH BENEFITS OF WATERMELON SEEDS

Watermelon seeds are good sources of magnesium with 100 grams of seeds providing 139 percent of the recommended daily requirement. Magnesium is vital for normal heart functioning, maintenance of normal blood pressure, supporting metabolic process and protein synthesis. It is also beneficial in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and hypertension besides controlling blood pressure and diabetes.

A recent study showed watermelon seeds as one of the most effective remedies for treating high blood pressure, due to their vasodilatory properties. The most surprising thing about watermelon seeds is the amount of fat they contain. In 1 cup of dried seeds, there are 51g of fat, with 11 of those being saturated fat. The other fats are monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, and omega-6 fatty acids. A recent research reports that mono and polyunsaturated fats reduce blood cholesterol, and omega-6 fatty acids can help reduce high blood pressure.

Watermelon seeds contain some of the essential amino acids such as tryptophan and glutamic acids. Lysine helps in calcium absorption to facilitate formation of collagen and connective tissues in the body whereas arginine improves the body’s metabolism, cardiovascular system and sexual health.

These seeds are excellent sources of multivitamin B and can replace some of the supplements. Vitamin B present in watermelon seeds comprises of niacin, folate, thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and pantothenic acid. B vitamins are vital for maintaining healthy blood, nervous system and effective immune response.

Almost half of the watermelon seed contains oil which comprises of 20 percent saturated fat and the rest monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat including omega-6 fatty acids. One cup of dried watermelon seeds contains around 50 grams of fat which constitutes about 80 percent of the daily recommended value. Thus, watermelon seeds are an important source of calories and energy.

Being high in protein, watermelon seeds can be extremely beneficial in fighting protein deficiencies. One cup of dried seeds provides about 30 grams of protein. Protein and its amino acids are vital for growth and repair of muscles, skin and connective tissues as well as for making enzymes. Protein is also required for the maintenance of long and strong nails.

NATURAL HEALING FOODS

BANANA (Cure for: Stress or anxiety)
Next time you feel stressed, reach for a banana, says Molly Kimball, RD, a certified specialist in sports dietetics with Ochsner’s Elmwood Fitness Center in New Orleans. With only 105 calories and 14 g of sugar, a medium banana fills you up, provides a mild blood sugar boost, and has 30% of the day’s vitamin B6, which helps the brain produce mellowing serotonin, getting you through a crisis peacefully.

APRICOTS (Cure for: Preventing kidney stones)

Eight dried apricot halves have 2 g of fiber, only 3 mg of sodium, and 325 mg of potassium—all of which help keep minerals from accumulating in urine and forming calcium oxalate stones, the most common type of kidney stones, says Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, an integrative nutritionist in private practice in Sarasota, FL, and a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.

GINGER TEA (Cure for: Nausea)

Dozens of studies reveal that ginger (¼ teaspoon of powdered, ½ to 1 teaspoon of minced gingerroot, or a cup of ginger tea) can ease nausea from motion sickness and pregnancy, says Gerbstadt. Researchers are unsure which oils and compounds in ginger suppress nausea, but it’s safe and has none of the side effects (dry mouth, drowsiness) of OTC meds.

BASIL (Cure for: Tummy troubles)

Studies suggest that eugenol, a compound in basil, can keep your gut safe from pain, nausea, cramping, or diarrhea by killing off bacteria such as Salmonella and Listeria. Eugenol even has an antispasmodic property that can keep cramps at bay, says Mildred Mattfeldt-Beman, PhD, chair of the department of nutrition and dietetics at Saint Louis University.

PEAR (Cure for: High cholesterol)

One medium pear has 5 g of dietary fiber, much of it in the form of pectin, which helps flush out bad cholesterol, a risk factor in heart disease.

CABBAGE ( Cure for: Ulcers)

A study at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine found that sulforaphane, a powerful compound in cabbage, clobbers H. pylori (the bacteria that causes gastric and peptic ulcers) before it can get to your gut, and may even help inhibit the growth of gastric tumors. For only 34 calories a cup, cabbage provides 3 g of fiber and 75% of the day’s vitamin C.

TURKEY

A 3-ounce serving of turkey has nearly all the tryptophan (an essential amino acid that helps the body produce serotonin and melatonin, hormones that regulate sleep) you need in a day, says La Puma. Studies show that people who suffer from insomnia are deficient in tryptophan.

GARLIC (Cure for: Yeast infection)

Garlic contains essential oils that can inhibit the growth of the Candida albicans fungus, the culprit in the pain, itch, and vaginal discharge of yeast infections, says Gerbstadt. Recent studies suggest that thyme, cloves, and even the essential oils from oranges are also effective fungicides, she adds. Include garlic in sauces, salad dressings, and marinades.

POTATOES (Cure for: Headache)

The 37 g of carbs in a medium potato can ease a tension headache by upping serotonin levels, as long as you keep the fat and protein below 2 g.

Child's Definition of LOVE.

I found this on rogerknapp and thought I should share. So beautiful.

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.  See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.  So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too.  That's love." Rebecca - age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.  You know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time.  Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.  My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen," Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate," Nikka - age 6

"There are two kinds of love.  Our love.  God's love. But God makes both kinds of them." Jenny - age 8

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared.  I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.  He was the only one doing that.  I wasn't scared anymore," Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody.  You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine -age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it.  But if you mean it, you should say it a lot.  People forget," Jessica - age 8

FOODS That Improves Men's Sexuality

Watermelon
This fruit is packed with citrulline, which may alleviate erectile dysfunction, specifically if it’s caused by high blood pressure. Citrulline is converted into arginine, which boosts the natural production of nitric oxide. And nitric oxide has the benefit of increasing blood flow to muscle tissue as well as male genitalia, which improves male sexual function.

Leafy Greens
Leafy greens are loaded with not only nutrients, but with magnesium as well. “One great thing that magnesium does is dilate blood vessels, which increase blood flow to the male genitalia to get a better erection,” says fitness-nutrition specialist Joey Thurman.

Egg Yolks
Vitamin D is crucial for keeping testosterone levels in check, and egg yolks are loaded not only with vitamin D, but with other nutrients as well: protein, folate, phosphorus, vitamin B12 and selenium. But if you are not a fan of egg yolks, fatty fish (salmon and tuna) or fortified milk and orange juice can still go.

Chocolate
“Every time they’ve studied chocolate for cardiovascular health and diabetes, they always find that it is beneficial,” says physician and Endocrinology Fellow Dr. Karl Nadolsky, so now you can indulge in moderate amounts of dark chocolate without guilt. It improves your circulation, which can help with blood flow to your genitalia, which will improve your ability to get an erection. And the phenylethylamine in chocolate can affect the serotonin and endorphin levels in the brain.

Apple
Apples, cherries, onions and dark coloured grapes are rich in quercetin that plays a role in controlling symptoms of prostatitis and interstitial cystitis (IC) and promotes circulation. Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostrate gland, sometimes causing testicular discomfort and pain ejaculation. IC or painful bladder syndrome may also make sex difficult for men.

Garlic
This herb is a natural thinner often used to prevent hypertension, high cholesterol and heart disease. The anticoagulant properties help ensure plenty of blood to flow to you nether regions.

Chris Brown Wins Joint Custody of Daughter, Royalty

After what seems like years of Chris Brown constantly losing in the legal system, the singer has finally come out victorious, winning joint custody of his daughter, Royalty.

Guzman reportedly not only wanted to prevent the "New Flame" singer from gaining custodial rights, but she also only wanted to give him supervised visitation.

The judge ultimately disagreed with her requests, ordering that both parents share 50/50 physical custody of Royalty with the toddler going back and forth between the two every four days. This should be a breeze seeing as both Brown and Guzman currently live in L.A..

In another victory for the pop star, he was ordered to continue paying Guzman the monthly amount of $2,500 in child support, instead of the $15,000 she asked for. To make things even better for the singer, the judge also ordered Guzman not to talk negatively about Brown and also prevented her from revealing anything about the case on social medi.

Congratulations, Chris!

Wrong move, player! Mike Epps Busted by His Wife Trying to Sneak Into Another Woman's DMs

Mike Epps was caught out there in the worst possible way this week, when his wife noticed him creepin' on, of all places, Twitter. Mechelle Epps, our new favorite badass, put Epps and @CeciCitra, the woman whose DMs he was trying his hardest to sneak into, on blast after catching this exchange between the two:

Mike Epps: "hey"
CeciCitra: "lmao hello"
Mike Epps: "are you on ig"
CeciCitra: "not anymore, wasn't getting the likes i deserve."
Mike Epps: "DM me"

Not on Mechelle's watch. Epps's wife promptly tagged both her husband and @CeciCitra in a tweet, along with a sideways eyeball emoji. Yeah, she's watching you, player.

Next thing we know, @CeciCitra has been "blocked from following @TheRealMikeEpps and viewing @TheRealMikeEpps's tweets." Sorry girl, that's the breaks.

Of course, the Internet is not gonna let this one lie without a healthy dose of meme-ing.

Kendrick Lamar Gets Emotional With Tupac Tribute.

On the 19th anniversary of the death of Tupac Shakur, the legendary rapper has received a touching tribute from one of his own lyrical "offspring," Kendrick Lamar.

The "King Kunta" rapper penned an open letter to his hero, posted to Pac's official site, describing the time he first saw him in person, at the Compton Swap Meet during the filming of his "California Love" music video.

"I was 8 yrs old when I first saw you. I couldn't describe how I felt at that moment. So many emotions. Full of excitement. Full of joy and eagerness. 20 yrs later I understand exactly what that feeling was. INSPIRED," Lamar writes. "The people that you touched on that small intersection changed lives forever. I told myself I wanted to be a voice for man one day. Whoever knew I was speaking out loud for u to listen. Thank you, K.L."

Pac's influence on Lamar runs deep. He would later shoot a scene at that same swap meet for his "King Kunta" music video, a clear nod to his idol. And the final track of his critically-revered album To Pimp a Butterfly, "A Mortal Man," is built around a fictional conversation between him and Shakur, with Lamar saying, "Being one of your offspring of the legacy you left behind I can truly tell you that there's nothing but turmoil goin' on..."
